2017 Priest Ranch Rosé

/ Bottle

The Priest Ranch Rosé begins with a whole cluster press.  We harvest the grapes exclusively for this wine to achieve the perfect level of alcohol; acidity is high and color.  Then the wine was aged eight months in 40% neutral French oak and 60% stainless steel tanks.

2017 began with abundant rainfall then spring weather was mild, resulting in extended flowering in some areas with little shatter. The vines were vigorous thanks to the winter rains.  A few heat spike kicked harvest into high gear by early September. However crisp weather arrived immediately afterward allowed sugar levels to return to normal, and we harvest the Syrah for this Rosé on September 5th.

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
This wine has a beautiful pink tone that is a result of the full cluster press. The nose is reminiscent of fresh strawberries and palate is filled with flavors bright cherry rhubarb.
Vineyard Notes
The historic Priest Ranch is now part of Somerston Estate, a significant property totaling 1,615 acres with 225 acres of hillside vineyards. What defines and distinguishes the estate are the dramatic elevations of the vineyards, ranging from 800 ft. to 1,600 ft. The wines of Priest Ranch are sourced from multiple blocks, showcasing the diversity and complexity of the combined property. Our 2013 Brut Rosé is produced using fruit from the west side of our property.
Food Pairing Notes
The finish of this wine has the perfect amount of acidity to serve with quiche at your next brunch or some prosciutto-wrapped melon for a refreshing appetizer.
