Our 2015 Malbec | Block 81 was handpicked, sorted, and fermented naturally, then aged for 24 months in 40% new French oak barrels and 60% once-used French oak barrels.

Everything about the 2015 vintage was early, from bud break in early March to harvest. The warm summer days and lighter than normal yield accelerated the start of harvest.  The fruit for this barrel was harvested on September 15th, 2015.

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
The Block 81 Malbec is a dark-colored, medium-bodied wine with well-rounded tannins. This wine starts with spicy notes of vanilla and black pepper, before hints of dark berries, plum and figs fill your palate. Notes of coffee and molasses can also be detected on the flavorful finish.
Vineyard Notes
The historic Priest Ranch is now part of the Somerston Estate, a significant property totaling 1,615 acres, with 222 acres planted to hillside vineyards. Dramatic elevations of the vineyards define and distinguish the estate, ranging from 800 ft to 2,400 ft above sea level. In 2015, the grapes for this wine were chosen from hillside Block 81.
